Location / Setting

Lacasapark Art Residency and Guest House is located in Gardiner, New York in the wild Hudson Valley countryside. Adjacent to the 23,000-acre Minnewaska State Park, but only an hour and a half away from New York City, the property is nestled in the Shawangunk Mountains, surrounded by forests with abundant wildlife, streams and ponds.
LaCasaPark Art Residency sits in the heart of the rich and vibrant Hudson Valley arts scene, close to institutions such as Dia:Beacon, Storm King Art Center, Magazzino, Dorsky Museum, Art Omi, and more.

Facility

LaCasaPark offers artists one to two month residencies with onsite accommodation and studios. Originally built in the 1960s as a printing press workshop, the residency is housed in a 4,000 square foot barn that now serves as a multifunctional work space, gallery, and loft. Big garage doors and windows infuse the rooms with natural light. The space opens to a covered outdoor area intended for work or relaxation, providing a fluid transition between interior and exterior. Studios range in size depending on the residences needs. LaCasaPark hosts up to four artists at a time, fostering an atmosphere of creative interaction.

Application and Selection

The program operates from march 1st to december 1st.

we offer possibilities for discussions with each individual artist to meet up with curators and gallerists for a solo or group show opportunities during the residency program.

BY Invitation

LaCasaPark Advisory Board collaborates with institutions and foundations to invite artists who produce work of exceptional quality and are expanding the vocabulary of their art. We regularly conduct studio visits, and invite emerging and established artists whose work we encounter at museums, galleries, studio visits and fairs around the world.

*year 2019 residencies are only by invitations.

BY Application

Artists who are interested in LaCasaPark Residency will need to apply via email addressed to the founders emi@lacasapark.art & jae@lacasapark.art including :

  • CV & portfolio link, any other support materials

  • general ideas of what each artist would like to achieve during the residency; exhibition prep, new project, research and experimentation etc

  • approx timing and the length of the residency

pre selected artists will be reviewed or/and studio visited by advisory board and the residency founders for the final acceptance then will meet the founders to coordinate all aspects of the residency.
